As part of our ongoing quest to understand the latest in SEO technique, the TILPRO team attended The Science of SEO webinar by Social Media Scientist Dan Zarrella of HubSpot. He spoke about the differences between search engine optimization and social media in terms of internet marketing, and which was the most viable. To answer to our original question: Yes, SEO is still alive and strong today.
More customers turn to a search engine like Google than social media when buying a product or service
50% of consumers that Zarrella interviewed said that they made purchasing decisions based on information found through web searches more than once a month. Over half of those consumers said that web pages ranked higher in search results were more trustworthy than ones ranked lower. For these reasons, SEO is still one of the most important tools in the box for online marketing.
Thanks to Dan Zarrella, we got some new ideas and a fresh look at SEO in the new year.
